Thanks to all who attended on this beautiful July day. We hope you enjoyed the tour. Photos of the tour and reception will be added to our photo gallery shortly.

If you have a garden with a water feature (or know someone who does) we’d be interested in hearing from you regarding our 2011 tour. Please e-mail the society at fortheloveofafricasociety@gmail.com

Thank-you to Sharen Warde and Larry Sims for sponsoring refreshments for the after-reception held at GardenWorks on Blenkinsop, and many thanks to GardenWorks for providing a lovely covered setting for the after-party……….we were surrounded by beautiful plants, garden decorations. Comfortable chairs and benches were placed throughout for us to sit on. There was space for us to display photos of many of our society projects, the Galilaya Orphans Centre, and the Nkuhungu Community Medical Clinic. Thanks to Elaine Zandee for playing a wonderful selection of tunes on her keyboard (and vocals occasionally) !!!

We need your donations to complete the Galilaya Orphan Centre for children.

We are raising funds to complete the Galilaya Orphan Centre for children orphaned by HIV/Aids, and we are supporting the Nkuhungu Medical Centre and Mother and Child Facility. Both projects are located in Dodoma, Tanzania. (Further details are available on the Project page)

BUY A BRICK AND HELP BUILD A BETTER TOMORROW

Most buildings in Africa are constructed using bricks. Each brick is 8"x10"x18" and weighs close to fifty pounds. They are made of sand and cement and are mixed to a fairly dry consistency. The mixture is placed into a wooden form, then dried for a week. The bricks are soft enough that they can be cut down or formed by using a machete. One brick in a completed building costs $15.00. Two cost $30.

Africa is counting on you. Information on gift cards for brick donations is shown at the top of this page. A tax deductible receipt is issued for any donation of $20.00 or more.

CHILDREN IN AFRICA NEED YOUR HELP – DONATE NOW

Our team discovered a sick little boy (Simon), while visiting homes of the poor in May of 2009. After visiting with the family it was suggested that he be provided treatment at the Nkuhungu Medical Clinic. After examining the child he was diagnosed with stage 3 malaria and may have died if left untreated. Society members provided the clinic visit, doctor consultation, medicine and food for the entire family for a week. The medication couldn’t be taken without food and this family was unable to provide daily meals. For $15 this boy overcame malaria. Your donation will help us support our medical clinic and orphans centre in Tanzania, Africa.

Building costs in Africa have escalated astronomically. The orphans centre building has used 2,800 bricks however the cost to fully complete the building exceeds $40,000. Your donation of $30.00 would buy two bricks in a finished building. This structure will change the lives of the orphaned children using the facility. $150 will buy ten bricks……See Donations
